First Range Day Confidence Checklist

What to know, wear, bring, and ask before your first range visit. Walk in confident. Walk out proud.

Know

Before you go

  • Pick a women-friendly gun range — call ahead and ask about beginner support.
  • Confirm rentals, ammunition, eye + ear protection, and instructor availability.
  • Bring a valid ID. Some gun ranges require a brief safety video on arrival.
  • Eat something. Hydrate. Don't go anxious and empty.
Wear

Dress for the gun range

  • Closed-toe shoes — no sandals, no open tops on shirts.
  • Higher neckline + sleeves; hot brass is a real thing.
  • Hair up and out of your face. Hat optional.
  • Pink Ranger energy — look like you belong, because you do.
Bring

Pack list

  • Eye protection (Z87+) and ear protection (electronic if possible).
  • Water and a snack.
  • Notebook or notes app — you'll want to remember what your instructor says.
  • A friend or your Goddess Network sister, if you can.
Ask

Questions for staff or instructor

  • What are the four universal firearms safety rules at this gun range?
  • What's the line / cease-fire protocol here?
  • Can I get a 1:1 intro before going to the line?
  • What's the policy on photos and recording?
After

Walk out proud

  • Wash hands and face before eating; lead hygiene matters.
  • Write down 1 win and 1 thing to work on.
  • Don't compare your day 1 to anyone's year 5.
  • Tell us how it went —

This checklist is general orientation only. Always follow the rules of the specific gun range and the directions of qualified instructors. See safety doctrine.
